The LG G4 is a great phone and LG’s newest flagship to hit the market. One of the defining features of the G4 is the replaceable leather backs. In fact, according to LG, the leather back goes through a 12 week manufacturing process. But if you’re a person that prefers to keep a case on your phone, what good is a leather back to your phone if you’re just going to cover it up?

Moshi solved this problem with the iGlaze Napa for the LG G4.

Moshi iGlaze Napa 1

The iGlaze Napa features a vegan leather backing. The brown isn’t a perfect match for the brown leather back but it’s extremely close and you’d have to look very close in the camera hole to notice any difference. The iGlaze Napa is a little more red than the leather backing that comes on the phone. Moshi describes the case I’m reviewing as red and they also offer it in black, which looks great as well.

The feel of the case is great. It provides some grip on the back over the plastic backing but is a little more slick than the leather back. I think the case looks pretty sophisticated and I would have no issue using it on a day-to-day basis going in and out of business meetings.

The iGlaze Napa is sturdy too. Moshi says the polycarbonate outer shell is shatterproof and is shock absorbing. I’ve dropped my phone a few times since I’ve had it on and I’ve not even as much as a scratch on either the phone or the case. Obviously you’re going to protect the back of your phone with this but there’s also a lip that reaches above the screen protects the front as well. Since the G4 is slightly curved, this is especially useful since it rests on less surface area than normal phones.

Literally the only issue I’ve run into using the iGlaze Napa is removing it from the phone. I tend to swap out cases a lot since I go for different looks on different days and when I removed the case from my phone, it took the backing with it. Not a huge deal since all I had to do was pull it out of the case and re-apply it to the phone but just something watch out for.

Moshi iGlaze Napa 2

The LG G4 sits at 149 x 67 x 9.8 mm and the Moshi iGlaze Napa is 152 x 81 x 14 mm.  As you can see, it doesn’t add much to the size of the phone and coming in at just over an ounce (1.34 oz) there’s little weight difference. Chances are if you’re buying a phablet, one-handed use isn’t your main concern. The G4 is one of the most easy to use phablets and while this makes a little harder to use one-handed it’s not to the point where I’d recommend against buying the case.

The Moshi iGlaze Napa is a great case for a great phone. If you’re looking for a case that will really protect your phone while adding an awesome, comfortable backing to your phone, this is where you want to start.

  • have you added the Qi charging receiver to your G4 and if so, will it charge through this case?

  • I like the case however it does not handle drops on the edges well. The edges are made of some kinda of plastic that gets marked up and dented.
