I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing a lot of speakers over my time as a writer/blogger, but this one that I’m going to present you today is probably one of my favorite. Not because it’s got the best sound(not saying it doesn’t have good sound), not because it’s the cheapest in price, but because it’s waterproof/weatherproof, relatively small in size and therefore can be taken or put just about anywhere. Because of that, that’s exactly why the Soul Storm Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker is attached the shower wall in my bathroom so that I can easily listen to my favorite tunes while enjoying a nice hot shower or bath.

About The Soul Storm

The Soul Storm is super small in size, so therefore it’s of course very lightweight and very easy to carry around in a book bag, purse or even in your pocket if you wanted. Therefore you can use it most anywhere. So if you’re heading to a friends pool party or just up the neighborhood swimming joint, then it’s something you can take with you to enjoy all of your favorite tunes. I personally use it in the shower as I have it hanging on a hook with the carabiner that is included.

The Soul Storm is rated IP66 on the dustproof and waterproof standard scale. What this means is that you can take it into something like a pool, shallow river or pond or something and not have any worries about it getting ruined. It can even stay outside on the grill and withstand the rain or anything similar.

Battery Life

Soul says that the Soul Storm has approximately 8 hours of battery life, though that of course varies by how loud you keep the speaker playing your jams as well as the content of your favorite jams too. I’ve managed to constantly get right at 7 1/2 hours of battery life once the Soul Storm is fully charged. I’m pleased with that when you consider how small the device is and the price range of the device that it’s in since it’s not considered a high-end device by any means.

Build Quality

The build quality on the Soul Storm is really well. It’s got a non-slip silicone protective sleeve around it so that if you drop it or whatever it will take the abuse and keep right on going. It’s got a metal grill on the front where the sound comes out of the speaker. Plus it’s got a decently sized metal Carbiner included so that you can hang it most anywhere to help project the sound.

On the back side of the Soul Storm is a little rubber protective cover that if you remove it you expose the micro-USB port that you use to charge the speaker with. It snaps firmly into place so that when it is in the water there’s no chance of any water getting into it and ruining it.

Sound Quality

While the Soul Storm might be small in size, it packs a pretty decent punch. It’s not the best on the market, but for the price, $49.99, it’s definitely decent. I feel it’s very decent for something like taking a shower or a bath, or even while you’re out in the backyard tanning by the pool or just while doing chores around the house. You could even have it on your work desk as it won’t bother others around you as long as you don’t turn it up full blast.

Bass sounds are quite distinctive yet not over done as to distort the sound or anything like that. The highs and lows are very clean and crisp and very enjoyable as well. And that comes with most any genre of music as I tested it with several such as old school 80’s, a little bit of country music as well as some good ole alternative music that I love to listen to.

Final Thoughts

Overall I’m very impressed in every way with the Soul Storm. The price of $49.99 isn’t too over priced considering what you get such as good sound quality, a greatly built and put together speaker and the fact that it’s Bluetooth, dust proof, weatherproof and waterproof. Hard to beat a speaker that does all of that for that price. And of course don’t forget that you also get a carabiner with it so that you can hang it most anywhere you wish to enjoy your favorite music.
