The news that all of us Android fans have been waiting months for has finally arrived as of about an hour or so ago. Android version L has been lingering for a while without an official name, but those days are now over. Android 5.0 Lollipop has joined the family of KitKat, JellyBean, Ice Cream Sandwich and many others. Along with that announcement came a few new devices such as the new Nexus 6 phone, Nexus 9 tablet and the Nexus Player, which is the first official Android TV device.
Let’s start with the new Nexus tablet, the Nexus 9. It’s made by the fine folks over at HTC, as we knew this was pretty much going to be the case as it’s been rumored for quite some time now. It’s a 9 inch tablet and Google says it has a soft grip back, subtle curves which make it comfortable in your hand as well as being light weight.
The new Nexus 9 will be one of two devices, other being the Nexus 6, which will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop. This means the entire device will be covered in Material L goodness. This device will sell for $399 for the 16GB and will also come in a 32GB variant for $599. Also included will be a WiFi version that will set you back $479. The Nexus 9 will come in three colors, one of which is kind of a surprise to me personally. There will be a white version and a black version as well as a beige looking color. The beige is a bit unique, but I can tell you right now, that’s the one I want.
Above is what the specs of the new Nexus 9 will be. Pretty standard as to what we were thinking they would be but most importantly is that it will come with the brand new Android Lollipop, which I’m dying to get my hands on and hope my brand new 2nd generation Motorola Moto X gets it very soon.
Unfortunately for all us Google/Nexus fans, the Nexus 9 isn’t available quite yet. But it will be available for pre-order starting Friday, which is less than 48 hours away for those that want to go ahead and set yourself a countdown timer widget on your homescreen of your device.
This is a device that many people have wanted to see for a long time. A Google Nexus device made by the awesome folks over at Motorola. And it’s finally here, as it was announced by El Goog today and of course, it will be the other of first two devices that ships with Android Lollipop.
This device has some massive specs, but they go hand in hand with the new 2nd generation Moto X that we have had for a few weeks now. But of course it says NEXUS on the back, so that makes a huge difference to a big majority of us out there, including myself. I’ve not been a Nexus fan for a little while now, but I can say I’m interested in this device, even though I currently own the new 2nd generation Moto X.
There’s the specs of the new Nexus 6 above. My one gripe is that’s a device that’s nearly 6 inches in size, and for me personally that’s too big. As you can see it appears like it’s going to be a beast of a Nexus device. Google claims that you can get up to 6 hours of use on only a 15 minute charge of the Nexus 6. As well it claims that you can get over 24 hours with a full charge of the device.
Unfortunately the pre-order date for the Nexus 6 isn’t until the 29th of this month. That’s two weeks from today so unfortunately you’re going to have to wait a bit longer to get your hands on the new Nexus phone. The pricing for the device is $649 for the 32GB and it will also come in a 64GB model, which we can assume will be $749.
Which Will You Be Buying?
With all the good news that Google has blessed upon us today, we are all pretty damn excited to say the least. We’re all either waiting on Friday to get here to order the new Nexus 9, or a couple of weeks to pass so that we can scoop up a new Nexus 6. Or you might be pre-ordering the new Nexus Player this Friday as well.
So that’s the question we have for you. Which of these devices will you be ordering as soon as they become available?
