The ROMOSS UPower 10000mAh Power Bank which retails for $49.99 but can be obtained at Amazon for $15 cheaper at a price of $34.99; is a two-in-one hybrid power supply that comes in handy if you need a home or travel charger for just two gadgets. It comes in three different colors

With its “smart” dual USB output (5V/1A and 5V/2.1A), you can charge, for instance, an iPhone and an iPad simultaneously. I charged my iPhone 7 Plus about four times and my wife’s iPad mini 1.4 times before having to recharge the power bank.

About The Device

You can do quite a lot with the power capacity of this ROMOSS power bank because it starts at 10,000mAh. The conversion of power during charging is average, which can mostly be because of the power bank’s low Max Output which we’ll be getting to later. However, the power capacity that’s available is quite good.

3.7 x 10,000 = 37,000 / 5 = 7,400mAh

Most power banks lose about 3,000mAh through some inefficiencies during charging and at that leave 7,400mAh of usable power. It’s with this power capacity that you’re able to charge smartphones about 2-3 times. Newer smartphones like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8 that have 3,000mAh power capacities are able to charge to full power about 2 times. However, if you have an iPhone that isn’t a plus size, then you’re most likely going to be able to get about 3 full charges there.

There are 2 USB charging ports on this ROMOSS power bank and even though charging 2 devices at once is great; in this case, there are quite a few flaws. One of the charging ports has a charging speed of 5V/2.1A, which is good as that charging speed is able to charge most smartphones at max speed or near it and iPads have a max charging speed of 2.4A which is quite close to 2.1A.

The other port has a charging speed of 5V/1.0A, it’s a slower charging speed and it shouldn’t be used unless you’re charging 2 devices at once. However, a charging design like this is quite common, with one port being more powerful than the other.

What isn’t common is that the Max Output of the power bank is quite low at only 2.1 Amps. This means that if you’re charging 2 devices at once, then each port will most like only be able to Output 1 Amp each. So charging 2 devices will result in an overall slower charging speed for the two devices that are charging at the same time. Which is why it’s best to just charge a single device at a time with this power bank and to do it with the 2.1A port only.

The one feature that I really enjoy about the ROMOSS UPower is the fact that it plugs into a wall outlet. This allows you to plug it in and still charge your devices while you charge the ROMOSS UPower itself. For me this is extremely important when attending a conference of some sort and I want to plug things in and make sure they are fully charged for the next morning when I need them most.

Final Thoughts

The ROMOSS UPower is a great little portable charger that I will always make sure is in my bag when I head out to conferences. It’s reasonably priced at $34.99 which is a really good price for a 10,000mAh charger. It comes in three different color choices which are Gold, Rose Gold and Space Gray. The fact it plugs into the wall is something that pretty much sells me on the device right out of the box. Throw in the fact that it’s super lightweight and compact and you really can’t go wrong with the ROMOSS UPower.
