As you’ll see in my Lumia 928 review very soon, Windows Phone is no slacker in their ecosystem as many believe, particularly in their gaming department.
Today is no exception with Windows Phone receiving its own copy of the popular game Timberman as promised, which was originally released on iOS and Android in May and has since garnered over 8,000,000 downloads.
What Is A Timberman?
If you aren’t familiar with the Timberman, it is fairly simple. It’s an 8-bit game that challenges the user to chop down a large tree using a burly lumberjack as fast as you can without getting hit by any branches while it comes down. The style of the game is forced to remind us of Flappy Bird, with its 8-bit design, layout, and the pace of the game.
Here is a bit from the press release by the creators, Digital Melody:
The production has been awarded the best mobile game during Digital Dragons 2014, Indie Showcase held in Cracow, Poland. Persistence, dexterity and satisfaction are the terms which comes to mind right after the first game trials. Variable environments that were introduced to graphic settings break the monotony and make all the fun even more pleasant. Game for those competition and achievements hungry, appreciating minimalism and with a great sentiment to Atari computers and Nintendo video games.
As it comes to the rules, all you need to do is simply survive for as long as possible by switching sides whenever necessary. Sounds like an easy task? It’s easy to play but hard to master. Try yourself, take your axe as every lumberjack does and chop the tree as fast as you can! And do not get beaned by branches. 4 variable environments and 19 Timbermen to unlock. Master your skills for the top records on the leaderboards.Digital Melody
Update: Our very own Bret Smith has now reviewed Timberman on Windows Phone, and I recommend you check it out. As is the case with all of Bret’s articles, it’s an entertaining read.
